We are working on behalf of a major UK telecoms and connectivity organisation who are looking to appoint a Senior IP Test Engineer to join their Transport Test team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a cutting-edge IP and Transport Test environment, responsible for testing, validating and supporting critical IP network and transport infrastructure changes before deployment into live production environments.

The successful candidate will work with some of the latest IP Networking, transmission, transport and automation technologies across a large-scale service provider network.

As a Senior IP Test Engineer, you will play a key role in:

• Performing upgrade, integration and regression testing within a dedicated IP Testbed environment
• Validating network changes prior to production deployment
• Supporting first-of-type releases and major infrastructure upgrades
• Producing and executing structured test plans and test strategies
• Troubleshooting complex IP and transport network issues
• Working closely with internal engineering teams, vendors and project stakeholders
• Ensuring security and compliance measures are adhered to before changes enter the live network
• Supporting fault management activities and driving issues through to resolution

This role will occasionally require out-of-hours support for major releases and network upgrades (typically 2-3 times per year).

We are looking for candidates with strong service provider or large-scale enterprise IP Networking experience, including:

• Deep understanding of IP Networking technologies across Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Arista and F5 platforms
• Strong MPLS/VPN, LAN/WAN/MAN and IP Security/VPN knowledge
• Experience working within complex IP Transport or Mobile Network environments
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across multi-vendor networks
• Hands-on experience using network testing and packet analysis tools such as:
  • Spirent Test Centre
  • IXIA
  • Wireshark
• Experience writing and executing test plans, test strategies and regression testing activities
• Understanding of Telecom Security Act (TSA) compliance measures
• Cisco CCNP certification (or equivalent experience)
• Good understanding of GSM, GPRS, UMTS and LTE technologies

• Previous experience within telecoms, mobile operators or service provider environments
• Exposure to test automation technologies
• Knowledge of project delivery and change management methodologies
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to lead technical activities and work independently
