The Position
You will be part of a cross functional engineering team working on backend, frontend, SRE, and QA to build tools, APIs and integrations for Remote's products. The specific team and product focus will be determined during the interview based on business needs and your preferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of major team scoped projects and participate in cross team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
- Actively contribute to product work: provide feedback, suggest solutions and use technical expertise to inform product improvements.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the team's domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
- Provide constructive feedback on code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
- Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
- Participate in non team activities such as support rotations, hiring, RFC discussions, and more.
- Mentor and guide other engineers.
- Investigate, propose and implement platform improvements.
- Build interfaces with performance, accessibility, and API design in mind.
- Redesign engineering work ship with autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
- Propose and operationalize end to end agentic workflows (spec plan execute verify) to deliver faster outcomes.
- Create reusable agentic workflows and primitives for repeated use across domains.
- Use verification loops (tests, checks, guardrails) to ensure results are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.
What You Bring
Must have (professional experience):
- Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
- Experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows and improving them through iteration.
- Systems thinking: define clear specs, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the quality loop.
- PostgreSQL (or similar) experience.
- CI/CD experience with tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of functional programming languages (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell, etc.).
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Docker.
- AWS.
- Next.js.
- React/Vue/Angular.
