SC Cleared Cloud Security Engineer

I'm supporting a defence-focused start-up on their search for a hands-on Cloud Security Engineer to help secure, scale, and continuously improve their Azure environment.

Role: SC Cleared Cloud Security Engineer (Azure)

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 per annum

Location: West Midlands (1-3 days/week on-site)

• Review and secure Azure/cloud platform configurations
• Work with architects to define secure reference architectures and patterns
• Implement and review identity & access controls (RBAC, PIM, privileged access)
• Improve cloud security posture and enforce secure configuration baselines
• Define standards for logging, monitoring, and platform hardening
• Drive remediation of systemic security weaknesses
• Provide input into network security and segmentation design
• Support security assurance across core infrastructure
• Contribute to incident response, including investigation and triage
• Improve detection engineering and logging capabilities
• Support vulnerability management and provide remediation guidance
• Review technical changes for security impact
• Write and maintain documentation, standards, and runbooks
• Work closely with engineering to embed security into delivery
• Contribute to automation and repeatable security practices

• Experience in cloud security (Azure)
• Strong understanding of IAM, RBAC, and privileged access models
• Familiarity with cloud-native security tooling (eg Defender)
• Experience implementing hardening standards and secure baselines
• Knowledge of infrastructure and platform security assurance
• Understanding of network security and segmentation
• Pragmatic, delivery-focused approach to security
