Applications Engineer

We're looking for a technically strong engineer with a background in passive and board-level electronic components who is keen to step into a customer-facing, commercially focused role. You don't need to be a career salesperson - what matters most is your ability to understand applications, guide component selection, and build trusted relationships with engineers.

The Opportunity

In this role, you'll act as a technical partner to customers across Northern England, North Wales, and Scotland, supporting them with component selection, design-in activity, and problem-solving across demanding applications.

You'll work on projects within sectors such as:

• Aerospace & Defence
• Space & Satellite
• Rail & Industrial
• Other harsh or high-reliability environments

This is a consultative, solutions-led position - not transactional sales. You'll collaborate with internal specialists and global manufacturers to deliver the right technical and commercial outcomes for your customers.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting engineers with component selection and application advice
• Engaging in design discussions, site visits, and technical reviews
• Identifying and developing new project opportunities
• Building long-term relationships with engineering and procurement teams
• Working closely with internal teams to deliver coordinated support
• Managing your own regional territory with autonomy

What We're Looking For

• Strong technical knowledge of electronic components (especially passives)
• Background in electronics engineering, applications engineering, or technical support
• Interest in moving into a customer-facing / commercial role
• Ability to communicate confidently with both engineers and buyers
• Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working remotely
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

Experience in high-reliability sectors (aerospace, defence, rail, industrial) is highly desirable, but not essential.

On offer:

• Up to 70k salary
• Commission, hit 100% of targets achieved 5% salary bonus, hit 110% of target then 10% of salary bonus
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, after 5 years service additional 5 days
• Company car
• 37.5 hours per week
• Normal expenses package for meals, travel, hotels etc
• BUPA - company funded after one year service , after 5 years-service company pay for spouse
• Pension - Company paid after 3 months 8% of salary, goes up 1% with each year of service, employee can also make salary sacrifice contributions
