We're looking for a Junior Security Researcher who is passionate about understanding how networks behave from a security perspective and enjoys uncovering the story behind complex data. This is an opportunity to join a pioneering start-up transforming raw security data into actionable intelligence, helping shape the future of threat detection across global networks.

This role sits within their Security Research function and is ideal for someone with a SOC, network engineering or security operations background who is keen to move deeper into research and intelligence. You'll be working closely with large volumes of security data to help organise, analyse and contextualise the activity their detection systems surface.

About the Role

You'll support the wider security research team by 'farming' the data they generate - turning raw network and threat information into structured, meaningful insights that feed directly into ongoing research projects such as proxy detection, bot activity and, over time, AI-driven threat identification.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Analysing and maintaining large volumes of structured security data within the central database.
• Using SQL to query, manipulate and interpret datasets relating to network behaviour and security events.
• Supporting researchers by providing context and clarity around what the data represents and why it matters.
• Identifying trends, patterns and anomalies in network activity from a security perspective.
• Helping translate technical findings into structured intelligence that can be used across the organisation.

This is a frontline support role for the research function, offering space to explore, investigate and grow into a more advanced security research position over time. There is no shift work, and the environment encourages curiosity and analytical thinking rather than rigid process.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Background in SOC, network engineering, security operations or a similar technical security environment.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, traffic flow and general network behaviour.
• Confident working with SQL to interrogate and manipulate
• Ability to interpret data and explain what it shows in a clear, meaningful way.
• Genuine interest in security research and understanding how threats appear and evolve across networks.

Desirable:

• Exposure to Python and / or data science techniques.
• Experience working with large-scale security or network datasets.
• Interest in emerging areas such as bot detection and AI-driven security analysis.
