We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus several smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Responsibilities:

  • To assist in providing support for all PC equipment, software, and mobile devices throughout the Trust including installation of PC hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Investigate routine enquiries, queries from staff providing assistance and advice as required.
  • To order, install, and configure new IT desktop equipment and mobile devices.
  • To manage and maintain the asset database and documentation as appropriate to the role.
  • To ensure new equipment is installed and configured in a timely manner and in line with Trust standards and service levels.
  • To troubleshoot and resolve basic Service Desk support calls in a timely manner and in line with Trust standards and service levels.
  • To update systems as appropriate to track the lifetime of IT assets within the Trust.

Desirable skills:

  • A good knowledge of Windows based operating systems, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of desktop equipment, including: PCs, laptops, printers, tablets and phones.
  • Good time management skills and ability to organise and prioritise workloads.
  • Good communications skills and telephone manner for responding to calls.
  • Good team working skills.
  • Good level of personal motivation.
  • Flexible approach to working hours to meet deadlines.
  • Professional approach to working with individuals both internally and external to the organisation.
  • Ability to respond positively to supervisor feedback.
  • Willingness to learn and progress.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
