Are you an Infrastructure Engineer looking for a new challenge? The role of the server engineer will be to manage and ensure the correct functioning and overall lifecycle of the client's servers. This role will involve supporting end-to-end provisioning, operation, monitoring, managing and decommissioning of physical and virtual servers or server farms, with different OS (Windows, Linux, etc.), along the whole lifecycle. In addition providing support for automation in management, deployment and operations of servers, acting as PoCs for private cloud functionality and operation with edge datacentres and support for in-memory computing functionality may be required.
What you will be doing: - Provide resolution of server service issues and supports delivery of user requests
- Maintain records of current server configurations
- Ensure servers remain in support by hardware manufacturers
- Proactively monitor server use and performance
- Commission additional servers as required
- Perform lock-down configuration and administration of servers
- Server Availability Planning in line with requirements
- Install and assemble server hardware and OS including updates and patches
- Connect servers to the client network and configure server interfaces
- Incorporate the server into the normal operation process and ensure that the server is running and can be accessed, monitored and operated
- Operate server services at the quality defined in the respective SLAs/ OLAs with ensured security compliance and business continuity
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks
What you will bring: - Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Know hot to apply ITIL methodology
- Able to work as part of a small team
- MS-Windows or Linux administration in a data centre environment
- Experience in Server capacity planning
- Can perform administrating in a virtualised environment
- Experience of working on a client site as a service provider
It would be great if you had: - Experience involving multiple Operating System vendors
- Knowledge of Storage Technologies
- Knowledge of Lan/WAN Technologies
- Willing to work out of hours and attend remote sites
- Experience working in virtualised environment
- Provision and sizing of VDI
- Experience in automation in management, deployment and operations of servers, private cloud functionality, use of edge datacentres and in-memory computing.
- Experience of working in an Agile environment
