Are you a Senior DBA looking for a new challenge? Reporting to the Technical Operations Lead, the role of the Senior Database Administrator Lead, will be to support delivery of database services within the hosting environment in line with client SLAs. This will involve supporting development and implementation of the database platform ready to be populated by applications from the client and, monitoring, managing and fine-tuning this environment, throughout the whole lifecycle.
This is a Database lead role, where you will lead a small team across multiple client sites. You will be responsible for carrying out mentoring, 1-2-1's and workflows of your team.
What you will be doing: - Implement Database environments in line with client requests
- Support resolution of issues with Database environment owning trouble tickets to conclusion
- Maintain records of current database sizes and configurations
- Maintain database backups for use in the event of system failure
- Proactively monitor database use and performance
- Advise on and implements additional database storage and new databases as required
- Administration of databases
- Ensure database designs provide for Disaster Recovery Planning
- Install and configure the database environment and software
- Manage and execute changes on the database in line with Client requests
- Attach and detach storage from the database
- Implement server specific governance including password policy, user access, default settings etc.
- Conduct all data imports, exports and adjustments to data structure and/or data model in line with client requests
- Perform regular KPI Reporting
- Develop databases that support multiple data models and extended capabilities such as spatial and graph, and support data virtualisation, distributed storage, and in memory storage e.g. for the use of high performance satellite image analysis and recognition
- Provide support for real time processing on transactional data or hybrid transactional analytic database systems
You will need: - Significant experience in SQL Server Database Administration covering multiple versions of Microsoft SQL Server
- PostgreSQL/MySQL
- Oracle Databases
- Experience working with database performance tuning
- Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action Out of Hours
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Experience applying ITIL methodology
It would be great if you had: - Experience involving multiple software vendors
- Knowledge of Storage Technologies
- Willing to work out of hours and attend remote sites
- Experience working in virtualised environment
