BI Engineer - Manchester

An established retailer based in Manchester are currently looking for a BI Engineer to join the team and aid in their long-term data strategy. The business have recently orchestrated a large data transformation project, bringing in a well-known CDO to shape their Data Strategy moving forward, in addition to a Data Architect to shape their technical vision and movement into the cloud. Now the team is fully established and consists of around 30 heads, ranging from Managers to Data Scientists, Data Engineers, BI Engineer and Analysts.

The BI Engineer will be responsible for driving adoption of the organisations BI environment through first in class dashboard and MI development, whilst also taking their business colleagues from capturing and refining requirements through to build, test and delivery. They will Define, design, develop and maintain performant BI applications and data pipelines ensuring data quality is maintained to a high standard, whilst also evangelizing about their data platform, products and data capabilities with other departments in order to bring more relevant data into their eco-system and develop future data-products that solve real business problems.

The successful Bi Engineer will have the following experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years in a BI Development-focused role
  • Extensive exposure to BI development tools - ideally MS BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
  • Commercial experience working with data visualisation tools i.e, Tableau, Power BI, Looker
  • Advanced level of knowledge and understanding of coding syntax and query languages e.g. SQL
  • Demonstrable experience of understanding business needs and translating outputs into meaningful language and creating commercial success through actionable analytics/insight
  • Strong communication skills, and ability to aid / mentor others

The role is offering a salary of up to £55,000 (dependant on experience), in addition to an extensive benefits package including Bonus, competitive pension contribution, healthcare, 36 days holiday (inc. Bank Holidays), staff discount and more.

The organisation's office is based in South Manchester, however they were early adopters of remote working (pre-Covid) and so would be happy to speak to people on the premise of visiting the office one day a week (potentially less depending on location). There is also the option of flexible working hours.
