Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Configuration Manager to work within Central Government on a contract basis. The position will be based in Blackpool for an initial contract until April 2017 offering up to a maximum of £500 per day LTD company.
Essential Experience:
Understand configuration management principles and tools, and have experience or training in the use of Configuration Management tools i.e. ServiceNow.
Experience in the use of bug and issue tracking products i.e. JIRA.
ITIL Service Operation (particularly Request Fulfilment, Incident/Problem/Change Management) and with significant experience of Service Transition
Experience of working with developers and architects to develop and/or ensure that they develop appropriate documentation to safeguard the integrity of the system development and support process.
ITIL Practitioner certification and experience in developing system architecture diagrams
Experience of working in an agile delivery environment
Build and configuration, administration and support of infrastructure technologies and solutions - hardware, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and opensource packages/solutions, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
Experience and technical capability across projects and service lifecycle e.g. applications development, DevOps, solutions architecture
Overseeing teams supporting services that are aligned to the business strategy and operational requirements
Experience of ITIL Service Transition
Awareness of project methodologies such as Agile, PRINCE2
Key Tasks:
Provides the overall Configuration Management (CM) infrastructure and environment to the product development team.
ATAS2 and WPW2 system artefacts are developed and continually maintained - including, but not limited to, architecture diagrams, software specifications and documentation, hardware and software licence and version numbers.
Builds, administers, supports and maintains DWP infrastructure solutions and services as directed and according to Departmental policy and process
Support and administration of solutions and services, physical or virtual, resident in DWP or 3rd party facilities according to industry and organisational best practise standards and service requirements and KPIs throughout the lifecycle
Resource management Ensures that the proper documentation is available to deploy and maintain each version of a software product.
Ensure that the CM environment facilitates product review, and change and defect tracking activities.
