Role Overview:

An urgent contract opportunity has arisen for an SC Cleared PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join a high-profile public sector project. This role is fully remote and falls inside IR35.

The Role:

You will be responsible for managing, tuning, and scaling mission-critical database infrastructure hosted in secure cloud environments. Working closely with engineering and DevOps teams, you will ensure optimal performance, high availability, and strict adherence to government security standards.

Core Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, and manage PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon RDS instances.

• Drive database performance tuning, slow query troubleshooting, and proactive monitoring.

• Execute schema updates, migrations, and engine upgrades safely within cloud ecosystems.

• Support disaster recovery, backup protocols, and high-availability setups.

• Collaborate with software and infrastructure teams on database design best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Active SC Clearance (Mandatory).

• Extensive commercial experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.

• Proven cloud experience with AWS, specifically Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible) and Amazon RDS.

• Strong background in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting query bottlenecks.

• Experience within public sector or secure environments is highly advantageous.
