IT Manager - AWS Cloud

Salary: £41,000 - £55,000 per annum
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Manager - AWS Cloud to lead and oversee cloud-focused technology programmes, client engagements, and transformation initiatives. This is a management-heavy role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, programme and project delivery expertise, vendor and resource management, and a solid understanding of modern cloud platforms.

The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational oversight across cloud environments, primarily AWS, while also supporting projects involving GCP, data platforms, cloud migration, and wider digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, management, and delivery of cloud and technology transformation programmes.

• Develop and support cloud strategy aligned with business objectives and client requirements.

• Manage senior stakeholders across business, technical, client, and third-party environments.

• Oversee AWS cloud initiatives, including migration, modernisation, optimisation, and transformation programmes.

• Provide management oversight of technical delivery teams, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed scope, timelines, quality, and budget.

• Coordinate with clients to understand requirements, define delivery priorities, and ensure successful project outcomes.

• Manage external vendors, technology partners, consultants, and internal resources.

• Support programme governance, delivery planning, risk management, dependency management, and project reporting.

• Oversee resource allocation and capacity planning across multiple cloud and technology initiatives.

• Work closely with technical architects, engineers, data specialists, and delivery teams to ensure effective execution of cloud solutions.

• Provide oversight of data and cloud transformation programmes, including migration of applications, infrastructure, and data workloads.

• Monitor cloud programme performance and identify opportunities for optimisation, automation, cost efficiency, and service improvement.

• Ensure appropriate cloud governance, security, compliance, and operational standards are maintained.

• Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and client stakeholders.

• Support business development and pre-sales activities where cloud or technical delivery expertise is required.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Strong experience in IT management, technology programme delivery, or cloud transformation.

• Proven experience managing cloud-related projects or programmes.

• Good working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud operating models.

• Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major cloud environments.

• Strong stakeholder and client management skills.

• Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams and external suppliers.

• Strong programme and project management capabilities.

• Experience with vendor management, resource management, and delivery governance.

• Understanding of cloud migration, infrastructure transformation, application modernisation, and data transformation concepts.

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical delivery objectives.

• Strong communication, leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills

• AWS or GCP professional certification.

• Experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud transformation programmes.

• Knowledge of cloud financial management, optimisation, or FinOps principles.

• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.

• Experience working within consulting, managed services, or client-facing technology environments.

• Understanding of cloud security, governance, data platforms, and DevOps practices.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technology understanding with excellent leadership and commercial awareness. The role does not require day-to-day hands-on cloud engineering; instead, the successful candidate will be expected to provide management, strategic direction, delivery oversight, stakeholder coordination, and leadership across technical cloud programmes.

They should be comfortable working with senior clients, technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders while ensuring cloud initiatives are delivered effectively and support wider organisational objectives.
