Business Architect

Location - Bristol

Overview

We re looking for a Business Architect to support the delivery of business architecture across a large-scale, complex transformation programme.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders to shape business operating models, define requirements, and ensure successful delivery of solutions. You'll remain engaged throughout the life cycle to manage change, validate outcomes, and support implementation.

Experience in IT infrastructure or large-scale programmes is highly desirable.

Operating Environment

  • Part of the Business Architecture function reporting into the CIO
  • Supports delivery across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Responsible for diagnosing, scoping, and delivering a pipeline of work
  • Works closely with a Business Architecture Lead to ensure alignment and progress

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, risks, and dependencies
  • Capture, challenge, and prioritise business requirements
  • Collaborate with delivery teams and third-party partners to identify solution options
  • Develop investment cases and articulate clear, measurable business benefits
  • Act as the custodian of business requirements throughout the delivery life cycle
  • Support continuous improvement using best practice methods and emerging trends
  • Lead business acceptance activities (eg walkthroughs, testing)
  • Ensure adherence to delivery governance and assurance principles

Skills & Experience

  • Key Requirements

    • Proven experience delivering business architecture, business analysis, process improvement, data/MI, or IT change initiatives in complex environments.
    • Strong skills in business process analysis, modelling, solution design, and transformation delivery.
    • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
    • Experience developing business cases, investment appraisals, and benefits realisation plans.
    • Understanding of project delivery methodologies and procurement processes (RFI/ITT).
    • Experience delivering operational efficiency improvements and business transformation initiatives.
    • Knowledge of regulatory, cyber security, and digital service requirements (ideally within regulated environments).
    • Ability to align strategy, processes, systems, and teams to deliver measurable business outcomes.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making skills.
    • Desirable: Experience in nuclear, energy, asset-intensive, or safety-critical industries and knowledge of business architecture frameworks.

  • Reports to a Business Architecture Lead
  • Works within a team of Business Architects
  • Aligned to core delivery areas such as engineering, construction, and business services

Working Pattern

Hybrid working model with a mix of remote and office-based collaboration depending on project requirements.
