Software Engineering Manager (EU)

The role is a senior engineering manager position on the Amber Electric product team. The team develops and supports home automation integrations with batteries and EVs, mobile apps for customers, and web apps and APIs for clients. The manager will coach, grow and support an engineering team, contribute to technical and product strategy, and help shape the delivery roadmap for clients.

• At least two years of engineering management experience, or four years at a tech/team lead level, with a strong interest in people.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills built on empathy for colleagues.
• Enough technical grounding to participate in problem solving and design discussions at all levels of the organisation.

• Leadership experience in similar scale or VC funded startups.
• Domain experience from the energy or IoT sectors.
• Experience in client facing roles or managing direct reports in such roles.
• Additional language skills, particularly in European languages, to support broader engagement.

£115,000 to £140,000 base per annum.

The role is based ideally from the UK, Germany or Netherlands with the option to work remotely from home. We operate a high trust environment that values outcomes over hours logged. Core collaboration hours are 7am - 11am Monday to Thursday London time. Outside these hours you manage your time independently while maintaining consistent communication and reliable delivery. Periodic travel to the London hub and annual conference in Melbourne is required, with travel costs covered.
