And now we have a great opportunity for someone to join our IT team in Derby as aIT Project Manager.
The successful applicant will be reporting to the Lead IT Project Manager, and you'll act as the interface between IT, the business user community, suppliers, EMR PMO and potentially TUK (Transport UK) Group IT on all EMR Business impacting systems upgrade, replacement or change projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone who's' managed large complex projects, system changes and able to work to tight deadlines.
What you'll be doing in this role:
- Manage the business systems and applications program of work, ensuring there is an overall programme plan with milestones, resources, cost analysis, and reports to the IT & Systems Programme Manager.
- Line manages a team to deliver business projects on time, within budget and scope.
- Be responsible for delivery of project plans aligned to business commitments, BAU initiatives and as per approved time, scope & budget ensuring required resourcing is approved with technical managers.
- Maintain core set of project deliverables (i.e. timing plan, resource plan, budget tracking, RAID logs etc), making this available for IT management and PMO and keeping them regularly up to date.
- Ensure that Project stakeholders are furnished with the appropriate level of engagement to meet and surpass their needs.
- Balance Project constraints of time, cost, quality and scope with the ambitions of project stakeholders.
- Negotiate with Operational leads to ensure that Projects are appropriately resourced and negotiate solutions to conflict, particularly with supplier partners.
- Manage conflicts between stakeholders, project delivery representatives ensuring that Project objectives are protected whilst fostering a positive working environment in line with EMR values.
- Be accountable for the financial planning, control and budgetary commitments within the agreed Project Budget or tolerances. Ensuring that any deviations are identified early and managed and controlled appropriately and projects are delivered within scope, on time and within budget.
- Have a good understanding of the basics Project Finance including ability to forecast effectively, manage change requests and ensure that suppliers are paid promptly and in accordance with financial procedure.
The above list is not exhaustive, and on occasion, the role may need to undertake other reasonable requests as required by their line manager, in line with grade and competence.
To be successful in this role it would be great if you had:
- Qualified/Experience in either: PRINCE2, AGILE, ITILV3, APMP or PMIBOK
- Educated to degree level or similar experience.
- Aware of ISO standards 27001, 27701, audit & compliance standards, GDPR and security protocols.
- Proven delivery of complex business systems changes (c. 2500 employees) in UK wide digital transformation projects covering application upgrades, replacements, business process improvements, Big Data, BI (analytics) software development.
- Expertise in Project Delivery particularly in complex environments aligned to relevant procurement principles.
- A self-starter, with the ability to operate within a lean HQ and frontline environment, with the ability to switch between strategic and operational project activities.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills as well as being able to communicate at all levels within a large complex and unionised environment.
- General understanding of the basics Project Finance including ability to forecast effectively, manage change requests and ensure that suppliers are paid promptly and in accordance with financial procedure.

EMR has a hybrid working policy which is applicable for this role. This means the role can be based at home 2-3 days per week and in the office 2-3 days per week. Should you wish to work full time in the office, this is also an option.

If you're successful in this role, you'll be expected to support our frontline colleagues at some points throughout the year. This might be undertaking safety critical work, for which you'll receive training, but it could just be helping out with Customer Service when our stations are busy.
