The Role
As an Associate Splunk Engineer, you'll support the delivery of high quality technical solutions across one or more technology domains. The entry level role is designed for individuals early in their engineering careers, providing hands on experience in system implementation, support, and continuous improvement.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of enterprise grade solutions under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and elevate complex issues while supporting day to day operational tasks, including monitoring and routine maintenance.
- Work closely with senior engineers, team leaders, and other stakeholders to understand project goals and technical requirements.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles, and support the collection and reporting of operational metrics and service performance data.
- Follow established security, performance, and operational standards, demonstrating awareness of risk management and compliance requirements.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in technical roles, such as internships, placements, or academic projects within IT or engineering environments.
- Foundational understanding of one or more technology domains (e.g., Infrastructure, Networking, Cloud, End User Computing).
- Exposure to scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python or Bash).
- Awareness of ITIL principles and basic service management concepts.
- Understanding of Linux CentOS / RedHat administration.
- Excellent communication skills with a willingness to learn.
Essential Qualifications
- A technical degree (e.g., Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or an equivalent field) or equivalent relevant experience.
Workplace: 37 hours per week based at either Malvern, Farnborough or MOD Boscombe Down, with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Shift patterns may include 07:30-18:30 GMT. The role may require participation in an on call rota and flexible working hours to support critical operations or project deadlines.
Required: willingness to go through DV clearance.
