Datox is hiring an EMIR Regulatory Reporting Specialist to help design and build a modern derivatives reporting product covering UK and EU regulatory requirements.
The Role
We are seeking an EMIR Regulatory Reporting Specialist to help us design and build a modern derivatives-reporting solution for the UK and European markets.
You will work closely with our product, engineering, data, and commercial teams to translate complex EMIR requirements into clear product logic, data models, validation rules, workflows, and user experiences.
You should understand not only what the regulation requires, but how reporting operates in practice: where the necessary data originates, how reports are created and reconciled, why submissions fail, how lifecycle events should be represented, and where reporting teams still depend on manual processes.
This is an opportunity to shape a product from an early stage and help Datox create an EMIR solution that is technically robust, operationally practical, and trusted by regulated institutions.
What You'll Do
- Act as Datox's subject matter expert for UK EMIR and EU EMIR derivatives reporting
- Translate regulatory requirements into detailed functional specifications, data dictionaries, mappings, validation rules, and product logic
- Define end to end reporting workflows covering data ingestion, enrichment, report creation, validation, submission, exception handling, reconciliation, and remediation
- Define the treatment of new trades, modifications, corrections, terminations, valuations, collateral, positions, and other lifecycle events
- Support the design of logic relating to counterparties, reporting responsibility, delegated reporting, unique transaction identifiers, product identifiers, action and event types, and trade level relationships
- Map regulatory fields to common front office, risk, collateral, confirmation, accounting, and reference data systems
- Identify data quality problems, reporting breaks, pairing and matching issues, reconciliation differences, and common causes of trade repository rejection
- Review regulatory schemas, validation rules, guidance, technical standards, and reporting updates
- Create comprehensive test cases covering standard submissions, complex products, lifecycle events, corrections, and edge cases
- Review generated reports and outputs to determine whether they are complete, accurate, and suitable for production submission
- Work directly with engineers to clarify requirements, review implementation decisions, and validate completed functionality
- Support client discovery sessions to understand existing reporting arrangements, delegated reporting models, data flows, and operational pain points
- Help produce product documentation, implementation materials, regulatory guidance, and client facing content
- Contribute to product demonstrations and technical discussions with prospective clients, partners, trade repositories, and industry stakeholders
- Bring practical market insight into the product roadmap and help prioritise the areas where automation can deliver the greatest value
You're a fit if you have
- At least 4 years of hands on experience with EMIR derivatives reporting
- Strong understanding of UK EMIR, EU EMIR, or both, including the data and operational processes required to produce accurate reports
- Practical experience within a bank, investment firm, asset manager, fund manager, administrator, reporting provider, trade repository, consultancy, or similar environment
- Experience working with derivatives data, lifecycle events, reporting exceptions, reconciliation issues, or rejected submissions
- A strong understanding of how regulatory requirements translate into data fields, reportable events, controls, and operational workflows
- The ability to interpret detailed regulatory and technical documentation and convert it into structured, testable product requirements
- Strong attention to detail and the confidence to challenge outputs that appear technically complete but may not be regulatorily accurate
- Comfort working across product, engineering, data, compliance, operations, and commercial teams
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to make complex derivatives reporting concepts understandable
- A practical, collaborative mindset and an interest in building better technology rather than preserving outdated processes
Bonus Points
- Experience with both UK EMIR and EU EMIR reporting
- Experience implementing or operating reporting under the revised EMIR reporting requirements
- Experience working for or integrating with a trade repository
- Knowledge of delegated reporting and the respective responsibilities of financial and non financial counterparties
- Strong understanding of derivatives across multiple asset classes, including rates, credit, equity, foreign exchange, and commodities
- Experience with UTIs, UPIs, LEIs, ISO 20022, XML, APIs, SQL, or regulatory data transformation
- Experience with pairing, matching, reconciliation, data quality controls, or regulatory remediation programmes
- Familiarity with adjacent regimes such as MiFID II or MiFIR, SFTR, CFTC swap reporting, or SEC security based swap reporting
- Experience designing, testing, implementing, or migrating a regulatory reporting platform
- Experience working in a startup, scale up, or product led technology environment
