Job Overview
Purpose of the role: to drive technical excellence and innovation by leading the design and implementation of robust software solutions, providing mentorship to engineering teams, fostering cross functional collaboration, and contributing to strategic planning to ensure the delivery of high quality solutions aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and expertise to engineering teams to ensure alignment with best practices and foster a culture of technical excellence.
- Contribute to strategic planning by aligning technical decisions with business goals, anticipating future technology trends, and providing insights to optimize product roadmaps.
- Design and implement complex, scalable, and maintainable software solutions, considering long term viability and business objectives.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid level engineers to foster professional growth and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Identify and incorporate new technologies, methodologies, and industry practices into the engineering process.
- Drive requirements, make recommendations for change, and manage resources, budgets, and policies.
- When managing a team, define jobs and responsibilities, plan for future needs and operations, counsel employees on performance and contribute to pay decisions.

- As a subject matter expert, guide technical direction, lead multi year assignments, and train less experienced specialists.

Qualifications
- Extensive experience of Identity & Access Management (IAM).
- Observability Pipeline experience partnering with peers and CISO.
- Experience of Joiner Mover Leaver pipeline creation and innovation.
- Tailscale - ability to input on and architect a zero trust approach.
- Familiarity with DataDog - pipeline integration, alerting and monitoring.
- Experience of AWS & Google Cloud administration.
- Assessment on key critical skills: risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job specific technical skills.
Location & Working Arrangements
The successful candidate will be based in London. Offices are located at 1 Churchill Place and 7 Westferry Circus (new BPL office). A hybrid working pattern is supported with a 3 day per week office based presence expected.
Business Context
This role is part of Barclays' payments acceptance business, working with Brookfield partners to create a standalone Payments Acquiring entity. The focus is on delivering secure identity solutions within the new business line.
