Senior Visitor Experience Officer

We're looking for someone with great people skills, who loves to inspire and delight by providing top-quality experiences for visitors, to join us as a Senior Visitor Experience Officer at Lyme. This role supports the Operations Manager in ensuring everything runs smoothly in this complex and lively visitor business.

Salary: £27,612 per annum

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including weekend working on a rota basis.

Provisional Interview Date: Wednesday 5th August

Closing Date: 26th July 2026.

Lyme boasts 1,400 acres of beautiful parkland and rugged moorland, two herds of wild red deer, and a very busy programme of events, art and exhibitions. The estate includes extensive gardens, six catering outlets, two shops, and excellent transport links.

What you'll be doing

As part of the Operations Team, you'll be focused on achieving the highest standards of presentation and service, helping everything run smoothly during projects, events, active conservation work, and busy school holidays throughout the year. You'll work alongside the Welcome Team to make sure every visitor has everything they need to enjoy their day, carry out duty management as required, and work weekends on a rota basis. You'll also have many opportunities to engage visitors, introduce them to Lyme's features, and manage and supervise volunteers.

  • Experienced in devising and running activities that inspire and engage people.
  • Skilled at communicating and building good relationships with team members and beyond.
  • Aware of ways to interpret collections of art and objects to a wide variety of people.
  • Well organised, able to work at pace and keep to time.
  • Confident in dealing with all kinds of people in all kinds of situations.
  • Flexible, yet focused on delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Experienced in working with and supervising volunteers.
