About the Role: This is an exciting opportunity to join an established software company as a Test Engineer within their QA team. As part of an Agile development environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software applications through a combination of automated, functional, regression and manual testing. You'll work closely with developers and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software and contribute to continuous improvements across the testing process.
Please Note: This is a hybrid role with 3 days in-office per week.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with QA team members to develop effective testing strategies and test plans.
- Evaluate software functionality against specifications and business requirements.
- Identify, document and report defects to development teams.
- Write and maintain automated tests.
- Set up and maintain test environments across Windows and Linux.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Continuously develop technical knowledge and testing skills while contributing to improvements within the QA function.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Test Engineer or similar role.
- Commercial experience within a software development environment.
- Experience of functional, regression and manual testing across desktop, web and mobile applications.
- Exposure to automation tools such as Cypress, Playwright and Postman.
- Meticulous approach to software testing with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and resolve issues effectively.
- Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Passion for software testing and a desire to continually develop your skills.
- Experience testing web applications across multiple browsers and devices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues using logs, APIs and database queries to identify root causes.
Desirable, but not essential
- Experience writing automated functional and regression tests using JavaScript.
- Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
- Experience using defect management tools such as Jira.
- A degree in Computer Science or a relevant numerical subject.
- Experience using Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of AWS (EC2 and S3).
- Experience with API testing.
