Senior Procurement Manager (Print & Paper)
Location: London - Hybrid working model
About the Role
You will be the paper and offset/digital print procurement expert, playing a key role in our global central procurement team. Your focus will be to support the business objectives by delivering significant cost reductions and strategic sourcing for offset and digital printing and paper across US, UK, EU, LATAM and Asian markets.
Role Responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact for managing relationships with key offset, digital print and paper suppliers to build long term robust partnerships.
- Provide technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders on print and paper purchasing, leveraging strong stakeholder management, networking and communication skills.
- Evaluate existing and design/execute best in class sourcing strategies, identifying savings opportunities and delivering value to the organisation.
- Develop and manage RFQ/RFP/RFI processes, negotiate agreements and long term volume commitments, and manage contracts for medium to complex sourcing requirements.
- Utilise procurement evaluation tools and processes such as sourcing strategy development, contract negotiations and supplier management to build a robust pool of qualified/preferred/strategic suppliers.
- Research and evaluate potential vendors to determine suitability, sustainability of materials and capacity to meet new production requirements.
- Apply problem solving and analytical skills to assess supplier performance and business impact.
- Monitor market trends, review technical, trade, environmental and legal publications and stay abreast of regulatory rulings related to physical printing and paper production.
- Ensure supplier performance and quality comply with contract terms, conditions and specifications through follow up and site visits.
- Monitor and analyse KPIs, working to identify improvement solutions.
- Participate in meetings and task forces to integrate activities, resolve problems and maintain knowledge of new developments, requirements and policies.
- Influence decision making and support business objectives through effective stakeholder relationships.
- Implement Springer Nature Group procurement policies, procedures and tools.
- Supervise and direct work activities of procurement staff on various projects and processes.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive procurement experience in buying global print and paper, preferably in Procurement Operations, Supply Chain, or Physical Manufacturing.
- Strong business and commercial background with excellent negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management.
- Effective communicator with analytical, project management and problem solving capabilities.
- Stakeholder management and networking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously.
- Experience with change management.
- Desirable: Fluency in German (bonus).
