MiFID II / MiFIR Regulatory Reporting Specialist
Datox is hiring a MiFID II and MiFIR Regulatory Reporting Specialist to help design and build a modern transaction reporting product for UK and EU financial institutions.
About Datox
No one builds a business hoping to spend hours dealing with regulatory reporting. But for investment firms and financial institutions, compliance is not optional. It is essential.
Yet, most reporting tools still feel like outdated spreadsheets wrapped in dashboards. They are slow, brittle, and disconnected from the real-world complexity that regulated businesses face today. Teams are left juggling formats, interpreting changing requirements, reconciling data across multiple systems, and hoping they have not missed a critical detail that could lead to rejected submissions, regulatory scrutiny, or reputational risk.
At Datox, we are on a mission to change that. We help investment and asset management firms simplify and automate their regulatory reporting across the UK, EU, and beyond, using a platform powered by AI, built for collaboration, and designed for humans.
We are a growing, venture-backed team of designers, engineers, product thinkers, and domain experts driven by one belief: regulatory work should not feel like punishment. With the right tools, it can be streamlined, intuitive, and empowering.
Join us as we build the future of regulatory reporting.
The Role
We are seeking a MiFID II and MiFIR Regulatory Reporting Specialist to help us design and build the next generation of transaction reporting technology.
You will bring deep subject-matter expertise in MiFID II and MiFIR transaction reporting and work closely with our product, engineering, data, and commercial teams. Your role will be to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear product logic, data specifications, validation rules, workflows, and user experiences.
This is not a traditional compliance advisory role. You will play a central part in shaping a live technology product, helping us understand how reporting works in practice, where existing processes fail, and how Datox can make them significantly more accurate, efficient, and intuitive.
Success in this role means helping Datox build a credible, production-ready MiFID II and MiFIR reporting solution that regulated firms can trust.
What You'll Do
- Act as Datox's subject-matter expert for UK and EU MiFID II and MiFIR transaction reporting
- Translate regulatory requirements into clear functional specifications, data models, field definitions, validation rules, and calculation logic
- Define the end-to-end reporting workflow, from source-data ingestion and enrichment through validation, exception management, approval, and output generation
- Map reporting fields to common source systems, order and execution management platforms, reference-data providers, and internal data warehouses
- Help design logic for instrument identification, party identifiers, trading capacity, execution details, venue information, buyer and seller identification, and other reportable attributes
- Identify data-quality risks, reporting exceptions, edge cases, and scenarios that commonly lead to rejected or inaccurate reports
- Review regulatory technical standards, guidance, schemas, validation rules, and relevant regulatory updates
- Create detailed test scenarios and expected outcomes for product validation and quality assurance
- Review generated reports and product outputs to assess their regulatory accuracy and production readiness
- Work closely with engineers to clarify requirements, resolve interpretation questions, and test implemented functionality
- Support client discovery sessions to understand current reporting processes, systems, pain points, and operating models
- Help develop product documentation, implementation guidance, training materials, and credible client-facing content
- Contribute to product demonstrations and technical conversations with prospective clients, partners, and industry stakeholders
- Bring practical market insight into the product roadmap, including emerging requirements, recurring reporting challenges, and opportunities for automation
You're a fit if you have
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience with MiFID II or MiFIR transaction reporting
- Strong knowledge of transaction-reporting requirements and the underlying data needed to produce complete and accurate reports
- Practical experience within an investment firm, bank, broker, asset manager, regulatory reporting provider, consultancy, Approved Reporting Mechanism, or similar environment
- Experience investigating reporting exceptions, data-quality issues, validation failures, or rejected submissions
- The ability to interpret regulatory requirements and convert them into clear, structured, and testable business logic
- Strong attention to detail and the judgement to distinguish between technically valid outputs and genuinely accurate regulatory reporting
- Confidence working with product managers, software engineers, data specialists, compliance teams, and senior business stakeholders
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex reporting concepts in plain English
- A practical, problem-solving mindset and a genuine interest in improving how regulatory reporting is performed
Bonus Points
- Experience with both UK and EU MiFID II or MiFIR reporting requirements
- Experience working with an Approved Reporting Mechanism or regulatory reporting technology provider
- Knowledge of instrument reference data, LEIs, ISINs, trading venues, systematic internalisers, and related market-data concepts
- Experience with reporting schemas, XML, APIs, SQL, data mapping, or large regulatory datasets
- Experience contributing to the design, implementation, testing, or migration of a regulatory reporting platform
- Familiarity with adjacent regimes such as EMIR, SFTR, MAR, or post-trade transparency reporting
- Experience working in a startup, scale-up, or product-led technology environment
