Location: Nasmyth Coventry LTD, Coventry Road, Exhall, Coventry, CV7 9FT

Job type: Full Time/Permanent

Salary: Up to£30,000 pa (Depending on Experience)

Hours per week:37.5 hrs per week

Start & finish times: Monday to Thursday - 8am - 4.30 pm (half hour lunch break)
Friday - 8am - 1.30 pm (no lunch break)

We are seeking a motivated Network Administrator with a strong interest in cybersecurity to join our IT team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the early stages of their IT career who is looking to develop their
skills in network administration while gaining hands-on experience in cyber security.

Working alongside experienced IT and security professionals, you will help maintain and support the organisation's
network infrastructure, ensuring systems remain secure, resilient, and available. You will also contribute to
security monitoring, vulnerability management, and the implementation of security best practices across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration

  • Support the administration and maintenance of LAN, WAN, wireless, and VPN infrastructure.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Assist with network upgrades, installations, and hardware deployments.
  • Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and asset inventories.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and network access controls.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration

Cyber Security
  • Monitor security alerts and investigate potential threats or suspicious activity.
  • Support the management of endpoint protection, anti-malware, and security monitoring solutions.
  • Assist in maintaining firewall configurations and network security policies.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans and support remediation activities.
  • Ensure systems are patched and updated in line with security standards.
  • Assist with cyber security incident response and recovery activities.
  • Promote cyber security awareness and best practice across the organisation.
  • Support compliance with organisational security policies and relevant regulatory requirements.

General IT Support
  • Provide second-line support for network and infrastructure issues.
  • Assist with server administration and cloud-based networking services.
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
  • Participate in infrastructure improvement projects and technology deployments.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking principles.
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, and switching concepts.
  • Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Understanding of common cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills
  • Exposure to firewall administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of security monitoring or SIEM platforms.
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools.
  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery technologies.

Qualifications
Applicants should have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience, such as:
  • Qualification in IT, Networking, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+ are desirable but not essential.
