Role Overview
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Developer Tools team at Figma. This team is building solutions targeting primarily frontend and full-stack developers, helping them bring products from idea to production faster than ever. As a manager on the Developer Tools team you will lead teams working across DevMode, MCP, Code Connect, and more. You'll also help define the future of our developer offering and likely incubate and lead new product development.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support a team of product engineers focused on building and expanding Figma's developer offerings, including DevMode, MCP, Code Connect, and more.
- Partner closely with cross functional stakeholders to coordinate work across product, design, engineering, and other functions.
- Define strategy & roadmap for your team and execute on that roadmap with a high degree of autonomy, velocity, and craftsmanship.
- Provide hands on technical leadership to your teams and others that collaborate with your teams to ensure a cohesive product experience and the right technical abstractions.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain high performing engineers (and help with other cross functional roles).
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and taking calculated risks.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience managing software engineers working on products used by external users.
- A proven track record of building AI powered products (both as a manager and individual contributor) that are best in class in user experience.
- Demonstrated ability to tie product and engineering work to clear business impact.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in building a high performing and highly engaged engineering team, including mentoring and growing senior engineers.
- Strong ability to build and operate fast moving teams that balance innovation with execution.
- Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies and their application to user facing products.
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
- Experience building large scale systems using React, C++, and/or Ruby.
- Experience building & maintaining open source software and/or libraries for developers.
- Knowledge and experience in generative AI, RAG, the fine tuning process, and its application to creative products.
