Job Description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To program, set and manufacture small-batch aerospace components.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for setting/operating and manufacturing a variety of small-batch components from engineering drawings to within tight limits,
  • Responsible for setting a variety of CNC and Manual Gear Cutting Machine Tools for operators as and when required,
  • Responsible for manufacturing all components within the agreed timescales and in accordance with the manufacturing plan,
  • Responsible for manufacturing components to the required quality standard,
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Companys requirements for maintaining material traceability are met,
  • Responsible for using a wide range of measuring equipment to check small-batch components after manufacture,
  • Responsible for making sure that product is suitably protected at all times, including for transit,
  • Responsible for making sure that all manufacturing paper work is filled out correctly,
  • Responsible for mentoring new staff as required,
  • Responsible for carrying out all tasks allocated by the Supervisor in a timely and efficient manner,
  • To ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained at all times,
  • To support team members with other tasks as and when required,
  • To help create and maintain a safe working environment and observe the published Health & Safety procedures,
  • To carry out any other tasks where reasonable and relevant, when required

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Programming training courses
  • Ability to set, program, and operate gear cutting machines

  • Experience operating Gleason or Mikron gear cutting machines
  • Ability to set and operate gear inspection equipment, including Goulder dual flank roll testers
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring equipment
  • Ability to edit programs
  • Ability to work using Metric and Imperial
  • Computer literate and methodical

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maths/English GCSE, (or equivalent) at grade C or above
  • Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent)
  • Experience sharpening and maintaining gear cutting tools, including hobs

  • Experience working in Aerospace Industry
