Overview
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join a small, highly experienced Epicor Labs team that transforms innovative AI concepts into enterprise grade products trusted by enterprise customers. This hands on engineering role involves designing and building AI capabilities across Epicor's ERP portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Design and build the next generation of AI capabilities across Epicor's ERP portfolio.
- Lead rapid PoC and MVP exploration of new AI capabilities and evolve successful ones into production grade services.
- Design and build cloud platform services, APIs, data layers, and integrate them with large, established ERP products.
- Bring research & development output up to enterprise standard: reliability, observability, security, multi tenancy, and safe failure behavior.
- Integrate LLMs and agentic patterns responsibly, establishing guardrails, permissions, auditability, and probabilistic design considerations.
- Raise the technical bar through architectural reviews, mentoring engineers at all levels, and turning good judgment into standards and automation.
Qualifications
- Principal level engineering depth in C#/.NET and/or Python, with Azure preferred.
- Strong record of designing and shipping production services.
- Production TypeScript/JavaScript frontend experience building secure, accessible user interfaces that integrate with enterprise web shells, APIs, and backend services.
- Experience designing and integrating enterprise information systems with a deep understanding of data flows, system boundaries, and operational impact of change.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with data scientists and other AI specialists to convert data, models, and experimentation into reliable, usable product capabilities.
- Production ownership experience: managing partial failure, resilience, blast radius thinking, and incident management.
- Distributed systems fluency: service boundaries, transactional thinking, multi tenant design, API design, and versioning.
- Strong architectural communication skills, able to explain, document, and defend design decisions across teams.
- Pragmatism under real world constraints, choosing achievable solutions over theoretical perfection.
- Highly desirable: hands on exposure to AI assisted engineering (LLM APIs, agentic coding tools, prompt driven workflows), experience taking early stage products from PoC/MVP to production, AWS experience, domain experience in ERP, e commerce, finance, logistics, and strong security instincts.
Benefits
- Competitive pay and benefits.
- Health and wellness benefits.
- Internal mobility and career development opportunities.
- Education support and free LinkedIn Learning licenses.
- Inclusive workplace with global mobility support.
- Work life balance policies that encourage time off to rest and recharge.
