Purpose of the role: To drive technical excellence and innovation by leading the design and implementation of robust software solutions, providing mentorship to engineering teams, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and contributing to strategic planning to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and expertise to engineering teams to ensure alignment with best practices and foster a culture of technical excellence.
- Contribute to strategic planning by aligning technical decisions with business goals, anticipating future technology trends, and providing insights to optimize product roadmaps.
- Design and implement complex, scalable, and maintainable software solutions with long-term viability and business objectives in mind.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers to foster professional growth and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
- Identify and incorporate new technologies, methodologies, and industry practices into the engineering process.
Senior Oracle Fusion ERP Functional SME - Financials
Role is a hybrid Oracle Fusion Financials SME position designed for a seasoned professional with a demonstrable foundation in Oracle Fusion ERP Cloud. Requires Fusion Cloud Financials modules implementation experience combined with Oracle EBS R12. Acts as liaison between business stakeholders and the System Integrator (SI) during a Greenfield implementation-setting up new company, setup and system from scratch. Use of latest technologies in a hybrid office environment.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Lead requirements gathering workshops with business stakeholders, translating business needs into Oracle Fusion Financials solutions.
- SI Partner Oversight & Governance: Review and validate Functional Design Documents (FDD) and configurations to ensure alignment with business requirements and best practices.
- Data Migration: Validate vendor and financial data migration from legacy systems to Fusion.
- Testing & Validation: Manage SIT and UAT, including defect management in collaboration with the SI partner.
Required skills and experience
- Hands-on Oracle Fusion Financials configuration experience across core modules: GL, SLA, AR, Fixed Assets, Intercompany, Cash Management, AHCS.
- Extensive experience in Finance / Accounting systems with R2R domain expertise.
- Excellent accounting background (financial close, reporting, reconciliation, IFRS awareness).
- Ability to own BAU support, stabilisation, and continuous improvements post go-live.
Additional valued skills
- Oracle EBS R12 exposure beneficial.
- Finance, accounting qualification and financial period end closure expertise.
- Integration with Oracle EPM, especially ARCS reconciliations.
Location & Working Pattern
The successful candidate will be based in London. Our offices are located at 1 Churchill Place and 7 Westferry Circus (new BPL office). We support a hybrid working pattern with 3 days per week office-based presence expected.
Company and Partnership Context
Barclays' payments acceptance business provides critical infrastructure to the UK economy. In April 2025, Barclays announced a long-term partnership with Brookfield Asset Management to grow and transform the payments acceptance business. Barclays will invest approximately £400m in the new business. Barclays and Brookfield will work to create a standalone entity over time, continuing to use the Barclaycard Payments (BPL) brand and acting as the sole payments acceptance services provider to Barclays' clients for a minimum of ten years.
