Digital Technician - NDES - Police Staff - CTP London (Band I)

£46,985 per annum (inclusive of £3,009 allowances). Base salary £43,976, rising annually to £49,670. Location allowance £2,009 and non pensionable allowance £1,000. 36 hours per week, full time, permanent contract.

The NDES (Network and Digital Investigations Service) is part of the Metropolitan Police Service's Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London command. This role supports TIDE (Technical Innovation and Development Environment) within the Video and Electronics Labs, focusing on emerging digital technologies while complying with forensic science regulator (FSR) and ISO standards. The successful candidate will work with officers and staff on local and national workloads, requiring a strong technical background and moderate to advanced computer knowledge, including system architecture and connectivity.

• Forensic imaging and data extraction from digital devices (mobile, computer, storage media) to support CCTV/Video and Electronics Lab work.
• Support non technical staff and police officers in operating digital forensic systems.
• Collaborate with the Quality Management team to maintain accreditation standards.
• Quality assure and peer review forensic examinations.
• Provide evidence viewing capabilities for investigating officers.
• Respond to technical queries from non technical staff and officers.
• Attend court as a witness of fact.

• Degree or significant experience in digital forensics, electronics or a related field.
• Formal qualifications in computer science or forensic techniques (e.g., CFCE, Forensic Computing MSc Foundation, or product specific certifications such as EnCE, ACE or Cellebrite credentials).
• Experience with evidence handling and forensic quality management systems.
• Familiarity with ISO17025 and quality management principles.
