The Business Systems Architect serves as the strategic technical lead for the business's core systems and digital transformation.
The core purpose of this role is to design, implement, and optimise enterprise-wide technology solutions that actively drive business change.
Enhancing critical platforms such as IFS Cloud, EDI, and modern API integration, as well as pioneering new capabilities like AI and advanced barcoding / QR integration, the Business Systems Architect ensures our technology infrastructure robustly supports operational efficiency, supply chain visibility, and Rodda's future growth.
This role acts as the bridge between complex technical requirements and tangible business outcomes.
What are we looking for?
System Architecture and Integration
Lead the architectural design, administration, and continuous improvement of IFS Cloud.
Lead the Systems and Process team with collaborative inter-departmental working.
Architect, develop, and maintain secure API integrations between internal systems, legacy applications, and third-party platforms.
Enhancement of existing platforms into standardised mandatory business processes.
Oversee existing and potentially new EDI solutions to ensure seamless, automated data flow with our supply key customers whilst planning for enhanced connectivity in both forecasting and supply chain.
Maintain a holistic view of the company's technical architecture, ensuring all systems communicate effectively and securely.
Innovation and Business Change
Act as a primary driver for technology-driven business change, partnering with department heads to translate complex business challenges into clear technical requirements.
Drive the exploration, evaluation, and implementation of AI integrations both Generative and Agentic to optimise manufacturing, supply chain, and administrative processes. Develop where necessary but lead towards success.
Lead barcoding integration initiatives to enhance traceability, inventory management, and factory-floor efficiency with future work on the Hyper-traceability initiative and QR code replacement
Champion new technologies and agile methodologies to keep the business at the forefront of industry.
Project Leadership and Support
Design future operating models for new technology deployments, ensuring successful end-to-end delivery.
Compile comprehensive architectural documentation, system workflows, and integration maps.
Provide high-level (3rd line) escalation support and technical mentorship to the wider IT Helpdesk and System & Process teams.
Be part of the on-call rota supporting the business and employees.
Ensure all architectural designs comply with internal data security, GDPR DPO, and disaster recovery standards.
Work closely with Suppliers to deliver solutions to projects whilst maintaining a high-level of technical documentation.
