Overview

Senior Risk & Opportunity Manager - Grid Solutions, HVDC Consortium Project Organisation, Stafford, UK. Lead end-to-end Risk and Opportunity management for a major HVDC project within a Consortium Project Organisation. Projects are typically valued at £500 million or more. Define, implement and govern the Risk and Opportunity framework at consortium level.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, assess, quantify and actively manage risks and opportunities across the project lifecycle.
  • Own and maintain the project Risk and Opportunity register; ensure risks and opportunities are identified, assessed, quantified, assigned and monitored to closure.
  • Develop mitigation actions with risk owners; monitor progress and drive closure.
  • Lead identification, assessment and realisation of project opportunities (cost savings, cost avoidance, value creation).
  • Deliver Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) and Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA) for projects and tenders; translate outputs into actionable recommendations.
  • Lead the project change-control process with visibility of cost, schedule, contractual and risk implications.
  • Chair risk reviews and workshops with project teams, consortium partners, clients and stakeholders.
  • Develop project risk and opportunity dashboards and governance information; provide senior leadership with clear visibility of the project's risk position.
  • Review risk allowances and governance metrics; review contractual frameworks to identify obligations and exposures requiring active risk management or approval.
  • Support validation and risk assessment of Civil Works and Erection partners.
  • Implement and optimize risk-management tools and methodologies to strengthen project risk capability and decision-making.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Significant risk and opportunity management experience on large, complex projects (EPC, energy, infrastructure or similar).
  • Experience establishing or operating risk processes within a consortium, joint venture, alliance or multi-party project structure.
  • Experience delivering QSRA and QCRA; knowledge of probabilistic risk modelling techniques.
  • Proficiency in Active Risk Manager (ARM) and Safran Risk.
  • Experience owning complex project risk registers and driving mitigation actions with senior risk owners.
  • Experience with formal change-control processes and assessing the cost, schedule, contractual and risk implications of project changes.
  • Strong understanding of contractual, commercial, cost and schedule risk in major projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to chair governance forums and engage clients.
  • Proactive and accountable approach; ability to anticipate risks and drive actions to completion without relying on formal authority.
  • Analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in project risk, project controls, engineering, construction, business or related field is beneficial; PMP or equivalent certification advantageous.
Where & How You'll Work

Permanent position based in Stafford, UK. Hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Stafford office; flexibility to work from home.
