Snowflake Architect | Remote
We're looking for an experienced Snowflake Architect to take ownership of an enterprise-scale data platform and shape its future technical and operational direction. This is a senior, customer-facing position supporting complex programmes across highly secure public sector environments.
The Role
You'll lead the architecture, governance and optimisation of the Snowflake estate, assessing its current maturity and defining a scalable target operating model. Alongside setting the technical direction, you'll remain close to delivery, providing hands-on support across platform configuration, Infrastructure as Code, security and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design and ongoing evolution of an enterprise Snowflake platform.
- Assess the existing estate and develop its future architecture and operating model.
- Strengthen governance across RBAC, security controls, data classification and regulatory compliance.
- Build and maintain Terraform modules for Snowflake provisioning, configuration and data onboarding.
- Improve monitoring, observability, workload management and platform cost control.
- Establish consistent engineering, deployment and support standards across the platform.
Essential
- Significant experience architecting and improving enterprise-scale Snowflake environments.
- Strong understanding of Snowflake security, RBAC, governance and access-control models.
- Hands-on Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
- Previous involvement in Snowflake maturity assessments or platform transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of resource monitoring, performance optimisation and FinOps principles.
- Experience designing platform operating models within complex or multi-business environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
- British citizenship and continuous UK residency for the past five years to meet security-clearance requirements.
- Must hold active SC Clearance.
Desirable
- Broader cloud architecture experience across AWS or Azure.
- Experience introducing automated platform provisioning and CI/CD practices.
- Knowledge of enterprise monitoring and observability tooling.
- Previous experience developing or leading a dedicated Snowflake platform capability.
