Position Overview

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our IMCS digital transformation team in Dudley (West Midlands). This role is perfect for engineers who are excited about growth, variety, and continuous learning. You'll work on diverse projects for multiple Mitsubishi Electric businesses, gaining broad exposure to different problem domains, technologies, and engineering practices. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain web applications using modern frameworks and technologies
  • Work collaboratively with senior engineers to learn best practices in software design, testing, and deployment
  • Debug issues and contribute to improvements across frontend interfaces, backend services, and cloud infrastructure
  • Learn and adapt to different technology stacks as you work on projects for various business units
  • Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to continuously improve your craft
  • Take ownership of well-defined features and technical tasks with guidance from the team
  • Expand your technical skillset by working with new frameworks, tools, and approaches
  • Collaborate with teammates across different business units to understand requirements and deliver solutions
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 1-2 years of professional software development experience (internships are considered)
  • Completed at least one significant software project from inception to deployment
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and take on technical challenges
  • Experience working in team environments and collaborating with others
Technical Skills
  • Understanding of web application concepts (HTTP, REST APIs, client-server architecture)
  • Exposure to modern web development (frontend frameworks, backend APIs, or databases)
  • Working knowledge of GEN AI tools for development, testing, and other workflows
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
  • Awareness of cloud platforms and modern deployment practices (containerization, CI/CD)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug code
  • Willingness to work with unfamiliar codebases and technologies
  • A genuine enthusiasm for learning new tools, frameworks, and engineering practices
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to ask thoughtful questions
Summary

  • Full Time Position, 37.5 hours/week, Mon-Fri

  • Travel: Some occasional international travel may be required
