Role Overview
As a Platform Engineer at Rare, you will build and maintain Azure-based cloud infrastructure that supports game development and live services. You'll focus on automating deployments and improving system reliability using modern DevOps practices, while working closely with game teams to enhance performance, security, and cost efficiency. The role combines hands on engineering with platform improvement, helping shape the studio's long term infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve hybrid cloud infrastructure (on prem + Azure)
- Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines for infrastructure (CI/CD)
- Support game teams by designing scalable, reliable infrastructure
- Optimise systems for security, cost, and performance
- Keep infrastructure tools and frameworks up to date (patching, security)
- Identify and implement new cloud based improvements/innovations
Must Have Skills
- Strong experience managing cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure)
- Hands on experience with Infrastructure as Code
- Bicep or Terraform (at least one required)
- Understanding of cloud security and best practices
- Familiarity with machine configuration / configuration management
- Awareness of Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)

Experience
5+ years' experience
- 3+ years hands on with cloud infrastructure
- 2+ years working with Azure in production
