NHIS is offering an exciting opportunity for a Server and Storage Manager to lead our dedicated team of Server Engineers, Technicians, and Database Administrators. This role is central to ensuring our server estate and associated infrastructure remain robust, secure, and well maintained, supporting the digital services relied upon across our partner organisations.

The role includes leadership and management of specialist technical teams, fostering a high performance culture focused on quality, continuous improvement, and excellent customer service.

The post holder will also act as a senior technical advisor within NHIS, influencing organisational strategy and supporting cross system collaboration within the wider Integrated Care System (ICS).

Job responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and develop teams of Server Engineers, Technicians, and Database Administrators.
  • Ensure the robustness, security, and proper maintenance of the server estate and associated infrastructure.
  • Foster a high performance culture that focuses on quality, continuous improvement, and excellent customer service.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to influence organisational strategy and support cross system collaboration within the wider Integrated Care System (ICS).
Person Specification Knowledge Requirements - Essential
  • Ability to manage external customers and contractors.
  • Ability to establish and performance manage the delivery of excellent Server and Storage Services.

  • Excellent knowledge of Health Care IT.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of Information Governance.

Qualifications - Essential
  • Educated to first degree level in an appropriate discipline.
  • In possession of the PRINCE2 Project Management Foundation Qualification.
Qualifications - Desirable
  • In possession of the PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner Qualification.
  • Professionally recognised IM&T qualification and/or management qualification (Cisco, Microsoft etc).
  • ITIL Service Management.
Experience - Essential
  • Management experience in an ICT arena.
  • 10 years experience of working in an ICT customer service/technical operations.
  • Experience of managing contracts, including overall responsibility for the relationship as well as for individual projects or programmes to be delivered.
  • Experience of system procurement.
  • Strategy development and implementation.
  • Experience in the development and management of service level agreements, commercial contracts and account management.
  • Experience managing complex and sensitive programmes and projects that require significant clinical and executive engagement.
  • Experience managing Capital and revenue budgets over £1m.
  • Researching, analysing and presenting information to Executives and Board members.
  • Successfully managing a diverse team.
  • Sound IT skills in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and email software.
  • Experience of developing and monitoring business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical IT systems.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse group of professionals to very large groups.
  • Ability to motivate staff, colleagues and stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
Experience - Desirable
  • NHS / public sector experience.
  • Significant appreciation, knowledge and experience of good IT practice across the acute sector.
  • Experience of major system procurement.
  • Significant knowledge of Health Care IT.
Contractual Requirements - Essential
  • Ability to work flexibly, outside normal office hours, in order to suit the needs of the user.
  • Ability to travel in order to attend meetings/deliver training at point of need.
  • Clean driving licence and use of own car.
