Purpose of the Role
To extract meaningful insights from complex data sets, develop robust decision models, and present actionable recommendations to stakeholders across the departments.
Accountabilities
- Identification and extraction of relevant data from various internal and external sources.
- Perform sensitivity analysis and scenario planning.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing models.
- Develop and implement data quality control procedures.
- Build and validate quantitative models to support decision making across different business areas.

For individuals without formal leadership, you will act as a subject matter expert, guide technical direction, lead multi year assignments, train team members, advise key stakeholders, manage risks, and strengthen controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape the pricing strategy for Barclaycard Payments, combining data driven insight with commercial understanding to support pricing decisions that drive growth, profitability, and customer value.
- Develop and refine pricing approaches that keep the business competitive in a dynamic payments market.
- Create, develop and maintain pricing models using deep analysis of customer behaviour, transaction trends and competitor activity to generate actionable insights.
- Lead performance reviews of pricing initiatives, monitor outcomes and identify opportunities for optimisation.
- Oversee model governance activities to ensure pricing methodologies are robust, well controlled and clearly documented.
- Translate complex data into meaningful commercial recommendations that influence the success of Barclaycard Payments' pricing strategy.
Business Context
Barclays' payments acceptance business processes billions of pounds of payments annually for small businesses and corporate clients. In April2025, Barclays announced a long term partnership with Brookfield Asset Management to grow and transform the payments business. The partnership involves broadening services, enhancing client experience and investing approximately £400million during the first three years with performance linked incentives. The goal is to eventually create a standalone entity while continuing to operate under the Barclaycard Payments brand.
Qualifications - Essential Skills
- Degree in a relevant analytical discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or a related field).
- Experience working with large and complex datasets, including proficiency in SQL, Python and cloud (AWS) for data analysis and modelling.
- Experience developing data visualisations and delivering commercial insights with clear, data driven recommendations.

- Experience in pricing, margin management and profitability analysis, assessing performance and supporting commercial decisions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, building effective relationships and communicating insights across technical and non technical audiences.
