Job Description

Technical Project Manager, Data Products

Up to £400 p/d. Initial Engagement 4 months. Remote First.

We're partnering with a well-established data consultancy on a newly created Technical Project Manager role; leading delivery of two strategic data products built within a Google Cloud Platform environment. This is a delivery focused role. You'll take ownership of the day-to-day planning, coordination and execution of technical delivery, working alongside a Programme Lead who holds overall programme oversight and stakeholder strategy. Your job is to make sure the two data products actually get built, tested and implemented, on time and with the right people pulling in the same direction. You'll be coordinating a blended team of internal client resources and third party consultancy partners, including data engineers, data modellers, technical business analysts, BI consultants, platform engineers and solution architects. You won't be managing all of these people directly, but you will be the one making sure their work stays aligned, their dependencies are tracked and nothing falls through the cracks between teams.

What you'll be doing

Leading day-to-day delivery of two data products within a GCP based platform, building and maintaining project plans, delivery roadmaps and milestone schedules. Coordinating technical workstreams across design, build, test and deployment, working closely with architects, engineers and analysts to keep delivery aligned to the target architecture. Managing RAID logs, proactively identifying risk and escalating issues through the right governance channels before they become problems. Acting as the main point of contact between technical delivery teams and business stakeholders, running workshops, planning sessions and steering committee updates. Supporting Agile ceremonies including backlog management and sprint planning where relevant, alongside more traditional governance where the project calls for it. Coordinating release and transition activity, making sure operational readiness, documentation and knowledge transfer are properly handled before go live.

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience managing complex data, analytics or cloud transformation projects, ideally with direct experience in a Google Cloud Platform environment or an equivalent cloud stack.
  • A track record of managing delivery across multiple teams, suppliers and stakeholders at once, comfortable holding budgets, timelines, risks and dependencies together.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to run stakeholder conversations at different levels, from technical leads through to steering committees.
  • Experience working across Agile, Hybrid and Waterfall delivery environments, adapting your approach to whatever the project needs rather than forcing one methodology.
  • Exposure to tools such as BigQuery, Databricks, Looker or Power BI would be an advantage, as would prior experience in Financial Services or Insurance.

This is a great opportunity for a Technical Project Manager who wants genuine ownership of complex, multi stakeholder data delivery, working alongside a Programme Lead rather than under one, on products that will have real business impact once live.
