Job PurposeThe Associate Analyst Developer supports the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the University's business information systems in accordance with University objectives.
This is a unique opportunity to join the friendly and experienced Enterprise Systems team, based in the Information Services Directorate, the team is responsible for providing key software solutions to University staff and students.
We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who displays initiative and has an enthusiasm for technology. You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with experience of working in a professional IT environment providing customer focused services.
Developing systems which operate across the administrative, teaching and research functions of the University to assist in delivering solutions which maximise service quality and efficiency and meet service standards and requirements.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesKnowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar role(s) Or Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Detailed specialist knowledge of full stack web application development technologies, including Java, Hibernate, Spring Framework.
A3 Knowledge of development tools including code repositories, IDEs, continuous integration, and unit test tools.
Desirable:
B1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9/10 (Ordinary/Honours Degree).
B2 Awareness of Freedom of Information (FOI) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation.
B3 Knowledge of digital accessibility requirements including WCAG standard.
B4 Knowledge of Agile working practices.

C2 Methodical and accurate approach with the ability to pay close attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.

C4 Effective written and verbal communication skills.
C5 Effective at planning, organising and prioritising own work independently within strict deadlines for the months ahead.

C7 Exercise initiative and judgement within pre determined guidelines and technical remit to ensure effective service delivery.
Experience
Essential:
E1 Demonstrable experience applying acquired knowledge and skills to develop technical solutions that provide value and meet user requirements.
E2 Experience of planning daily workload and using own judgement to estimate task delivery times.
E3 Experience working in a professional IT environment providing customer focused services in a relevant technical role.
Desirable:
F1 Experience of mobile development and releasing updates to app stores.
Terms and ConditionsSalary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum.
