Senior VMware Engineer (VCF)
Location: Erskine or Newcastle (Hybrid Working)
Security Clearance: Must be a Sole UK National and eligible for High Level UK Security Clearance
We are seeking an experienced Senior VMware Engineer to design, build, and optimise VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments that support mission critical services. This role involves leading technical delivery, influencing architecture decisions, and contributing to large scale transformation programmes within highly secure environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and optimise VMware environments, including VCF 5.x and above.
- Implement and manage VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and the VMware Aria Suite, including vRealize Operations, Automation, Log Insight, and NSX.
- Deliver resilient, scalable, and secure hybrid cloud solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure challenges across compute, networking, and storage.
- Drive automation and Infrastructure as Code initiatives using Ansible, PowerShell, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Produce high quality architecture and technical documentation (HLDs and LLDs).
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues across infrastructure teams.
- Support platform resilience, modernisation, and operational excellence in secure environments.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in VMware engineering and enterprise virtualization environments.
- Strong hands on expertise with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and VMware Aria Suite.
- Experience with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and preferably NSX or AVI technologies.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of networking, storage technologies, and Active Directory.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, Python, or Terraform.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, technically challenging environment.
