The Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement the data architecture supporting referral ingestion, transformation, validation and integration across this national safeguarding platform. You will develop scalable data pipelines enabling intelligence processing, operational reporting and interoperability with partner systems.

About the Programme

We are supporting a major central Government client on a mission critical digital transformation programme to replace a legacy case management system with a modern, secure, cloud native platform hosted on Microsoft Azure.

The new platform will automate referral ingestion, triage and case handling workflows, integrate with key national systems, provide secure APIs for data exchange with partners, and deliver significant improvements in operational reporting, resilience and scalability.

This is a multidisciplinary programme bringing together a full delivery team to design, build, secure and support the platform from the ground up. It is an opportunity to work on nationally important digital infrastructure within a technically demanding and rewarding environment.

Working Arrangements

Location: Hybrid - various UK locations. Candidates must be able to attend site as required.

Clearance: Active SC Clearance is essential. Candidates without active SC clearance will not be considered.

Rate: Competitive, commensurate with experience. To be discussed on application.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement the data architecture supporting referral ingestion, transformation, validation and integration
  • Develop scalable, robust data pipelines enabling intelligence processing and operational reporting
  • Ensure data quality, auditability and integrity throughout ingestion and processing workflows
  • Design data models and integration patterns to support interoperability with national law enforcement and partner systems
  • Collaborate with backend, platform and QA engineers to ensure end to end data flow reliability
  • Support operational reporting requirements and business intelligence integration
  • Contribute to data governance, documentation and engineering standards
Essential Requirements
  • Strong hands on data engineering experience including ETL pipeline design and delivery
  • Experience with cloud native data platforms (Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with Python, PySpark or SQL for data pipeline development
  • Experience designing data architectures within complex, integration heavy environments
  • Active SC Clearance (essential - candidates without this will not be considered)
Desirable
  • Experience with Apache Airflow, dbt, Kafka or equivalent data pipeline tooling
  • Experience delivering data solutions within government or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with Azure native data services (Synapse, Data Lake, Event Hub)
