About the role
Reporting to the Lead Application Operations Engineer, you will support the delivery, configuration, and ongoing improvement of Trust applications, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and compliant with NHS standards.

You'll work closely with clinical and technical teams to manage system changes, resolve issues, and contribute to service improvement, while providing expert input on information governance, data protection, and application performance.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage with all levels of hierarchy
  • Good verbal and written communication skills including report writing, presentations and system specifications
  • Ability to work on own or in a group with minimal direct supervision
  • A flexible and methodical approach to work to meet the needs of the role
  • Excellent IT skills, able to use a wide range of software packages including Visio, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel-produce spreadsheets, formulas etc

Qualification & Knowledge
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in application configuration, design and maintenance
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of applications including governance and assurance
  • Knowledge of service management frameworks
Experience
  • Extensive experience and advanced user in using a range of IT packages including Excel, Word
  • Experience of the administration and maintenance of applications.
  • Advanced Excel reporting skills including pivot tables, formulae, graphs, tables, and v lookups
  • Practical experience of working in a development or application environment specialising in application development
