Deputy Information Security Officer

We're looking for a motivated and detail-focused Deputy Information Security Officer to join our Compliance Team within the Information Management department. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in protecting organisational information and ensuring compliance with national and legal security standards.

Information Management sits within Corporate Development, which brings together Business Insight, Corporate Communications, Executive Support, Information Management, and the Portfolio Programme Management Office. Together, these services deliver strategic priorities and provide a unified, professional service across the organisation.

As Deputy Information Security Officer, you will support the delivery of high-quality advice, assurance, and compliance activities. Working closely with the Information Security Officer and stakeholders, you will help ensure robust information security practices are embedded across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely, credible, and high-quality information security advice and assurance
  • Support compliance with Home Office requirements, Codes of Connection, and relevant legislation
  • Assist in completing risk assessed information assurance documentation to maintain system connectivity and Community of Trust approval
  • Advise Information Asset Owners and stakeholders on secure information management best practice
  • Monitor and maintain the security incident log, ensuring appropriate mitigation and escalation
  • Conduct information security assurance activities, influencing stakeholders to implement remedial actions
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of processes, systems, and service delivery
  • Produce reports and insights to support effective decision making and performance management
  • Develop training materials such as e learning and guidance tools to enhance user awareness and experience
  • Promote service standards, tools, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Represent Information Management at meetings and working groups (local, regional, and national)
  • Deputise for the Information Security Officer when required
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to analyse, produce, and present data confidently
  • Comfortable making risk based decisions
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence and work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Effective report writing skills and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018
  • Experience in IT and physical security standards
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint

Requirements
  • You must have the right to work in the UK, with no restrictions on your employment
  • Hold a full UK manual driving licence
  • Internal applicants must have successfully completed their probation period
  • Meet residency requirements for vetting:
  • MVR Level Vetting - minimum 5 years UK residency
