We are looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class Network Technician to join our growing team within networking scaling. You will deliver hardware, configuration and fiber connectivity for interdependent scaling projects across multiple data center locations, working closely with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution alongside Technical Program Managers. The role requires independence, strong communication skills, and substantial experience in supporting large-scale, enterprise-class networks, including installation and troubleshooting of networking hardware, software, and fiber connectivity. You will work with minimum supervision to drive stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and help develop innovative automation and scaling solutions.
Location: Hertfordshire, with sporadic travel to Greater London as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hardware, configuration and fiber connectivity for scaling projects across data center locations.
- Collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Support large scale enterprise networks, including installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of networking hardware, software and fiber systems.
- Drive stability, sustainability and innovation in next generation network operations.
- Refine operational procedures, develop new tooling and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Operate independently with minimum supervision.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience in networking.
- CCNA or equivalent networking certification, or a bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP.
- Ability to specify power and cooling requirements, participate in hardware racking/stacking, and contribute to migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
- Proficient in network cabling, optic types and test equipment (VFL, power meter, OTDR) with familiarity to cabling best practices.
- Experience troubleshooting networking, routing and connectivity issues, including device configuration and application interaction.
- Ability to travel within the geographical work area (up to 20% travel including possible international travel).
- Physical ability to lift computer equipment up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing medium to large-scale projects.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and effective communication.
- Experience in large-scale data center network implementations and support.
- Strong understanding of major command line protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, etc.) and common networking protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Several years of experience in virtualized enterprise networking environments.
- Proficiency in IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) and operational excellence methodologies.
