Senior IT Operations Manager

Salary: £29,000 - 58,000 per year

• Senior leadership experience in IT operations, preferably within energy trading, commodities trading, or a similar fast paced and volatile environment.
• Experience supporting business critical applications and infrastructure services, including ETRM and Endur.
• Strong background in operational governance, risk, controls, and service management.
• Experience owning operating plans, budgets, and service lifecycles.
• Proven ability to lead transformation toward an automated, data driven operating model.
• Experience partnering with senior business leadership to design and run effective operating models.
• Ability to lead and develop a high performing operations team.
• Understanding of information risk management, IT controls compliance, health and safety, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

• We hold end to end accountability for IT operations across the trading portfolio, ensuring secure, resilient, and cost effective delivery of business critical application and infrastructure services.
• We lead the transformation of operations toward an automated, data driven operating model while safeguarding business continuity.
• We own the IT operating plan, budget, and service lifecycle.
• We ensure strong governance, risk management, and controls across the portfolio.
• We hold service providers to clear outcome based performance standards.
• We partner with business leadership to design and run a differentiated operating model that enables speed, scale, and sustained value delivery.
• We lead a high performing operations team and drive operational excellence.
• We are responsible for operational readiness for new demand, changes, and projects impacting the portfolio.
• We analyse and understand business functional and non functional requirements and agree the approach to operate.
• We manage information risk, IT controls compliance, and conformance with health and safety policies and legal and regulatory requirements.
• We are accountable for general controls and ensuring controls are in place.
• We drive the teams transformation goals and objectives.

We are recruiting on behalf of our global commodities trading client in London for a Senior IT Operations Manager to start as soon as possible on an initial contract through March 2027. This is an important senior leadership role within our Energy Trading business, supporting a major programme to transform processes, ways of working, data, and the implementation of an ETRM across the energy trading portfolios.
