Job Description

Apprentice Engineering Technician

The Apprentice Engineering Technician will train as an Engineering Technician through a structured 3 year apprenticeship programme covering Civil Engineering activities. The role involves planning, programming, designing and implementing projects in four key areas: general traffic management, road safety, cycling and public realm improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, programming and design of civil engineering projects.
  • Support the implementation of projects to ensure they meet council policies and objectives.
  • Attend college or university one day per week during the apprenticeship while completing work place training.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for project stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Level 2 or GCSE A C / 4 9 in Maths and English, or Level 3/A Levels (eligible for Level 4).
  • No existing equivalent level Civil Engineering qualification.
  • Must be able to evidence eligibility criteria.
Eligibility
  • Current resident of the London Borough of Hackney.
  • Current student at a Hackney education institution (school, college, university, PRU/alternative provision, Adult Learning provision).
  • Former student at a Hackney secondary education institution with at least one GCSE or equivalent Level 2 qualification completed within the last 8 years.
  • Current or former recipient of Hackney leaving care services.
  • Hold a British passport or have UK government permission to live in the UK and have lived in the UK for at least the last three years.
