The British Library organises a vibrant programme of temporary and permanent gallery exhibitions ranging from Beyond the Bassline: 500 years of Black British Music to Fairy Tales to Medieval Women. This fixed term post offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and with iconic literary and historical manuscripts, maps, photographs, posters, sacred texts, and sound.

Working as part of a small team in the Exhibitions Office you will play an important role in supporting the everyday management of the Exhibitions office. You will support the exhibitions team with a range of administrative tasks including minute taking, booking travel, stock checks and financial administration.

This role will also provide practical support where required to ensure the smooth delivery of our exhibition programme. This would include tasks such as book collection retrieval, gallery check, assisting with the development of small object displays as well as being on hand during exhibition installations.

You will have an interest in the production of temporary exhibitions in the cultural sector with practical experience desirable. You should demonstrate either knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, the technical aspects of mounting exhibits and the conservation requirements for the display of books and other objects and some experience with AV/multimedia for exhibitions.

You will be highly organised, able to work to deadline and possess excellent written and oral communications skills including the ability to work effectively and efficiently with a wide range of colleagues. You will need to be flexible on working hours and will need to on occasion be able to work outside of normal hours.
