Network Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a customer in Ellesmere Port on an initial 3 or 6-month contract. This role will be heavily focused on network infrastructure, security, operational support, and upcoming refresh projects across Cisco, Fortinet, and Meraki environments.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of network infrastructure from an outgoing team member
• Complete knowledge transfer activities and produce handover documentation
• Review and document existing network architecture
• Assume administrative ownership and access management responsibilities
• Assess and validate recent network and security changes
• Provide day-to-day BAU network support
• Support upcoming infrastructure refresh projects

Project Work

• Cisco network hardware refresh
• Fortinet Firewall refresh and upgrades
• Meraki wireless access point upgrades
• Network security improvements and optimisation
• Infrastructure documentation and operational readiness

Required Experience

• Strong Cisco networking experience
• Hands-on Fortinet Firewall administration and support
• Experience with network security technologies and best practices
• Meraki wireless infrastructure experience
• Network troubleshooting, configuration and administration
• Infrastructure documentation and architecture understanding
• Experience supporting enterprise network environments

Desirable

• Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP)
• Fortinet certifications (NSE/FCP)
• Experience delivering network refresh or migration projects
