Designer / Architectural Technician

Allstaff Manufacturing Division is delighted to offer the role of Designer / Architectural Technician. The position is a key role within the technical team, ensuring building details accurately reflect the specified product solutions and technical requirements. The successful candidate will develop construction issue details, sections, elevations and manufacturing information for residential projects ranging from small developments to large multi phase schemes. Working closely with clients, architects and project teams, you will help deliver practical, compliant and cost effective design solutions.

This is an onsite role based in Whiteinch, Glasgow. Hours: Monday to Friday - either 8:00am - 4:00pm or 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Preferred knowledge: current building regulations and new build façade, windows or curtain walling systems (not essential).

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend and contribute to design meetings: consulting with clients, architects, contractors and providing technical support.
  • Manage own projects within the architectural setting.
  • Lease with customers, architects and project managers to ensure installation and manufacturing details are understood.
  • Build and develop construction issue details (sections, interfaces & elevations) incorporating product specifications and client requirements to secure sign off.
  • Integrate information from structural engineers into product detail drawings.
  • Produce manufacturing drawings, information and take offs for production; produce take offs for subcontract manufactured components.
  • Share knowledge to reduce costs and delays while applying effective design methods and concepts; apply value engineering to stay on budget.
  • Understand the build sequence to ensure smooth on site delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong communicator in spoken and written English.
  • Strong design and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with qualifications within an architectural setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, confident with Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong AutoCAD experience to produce drawings and technical submissions.
  • Ability to interpret, work with and communicate effectively information from technical drawings, specifications, building standards/regulations and other documentation.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate at all levels externally or internally.
  • Strong organisation and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrable experience of meeting deadlines.
  • Desirable: experience with Revit / BIM (or similar).
  • Desirable: experience within glazing industry.
  • Desirable: knowledge of warranty providers such as NHBC, Premier.
  • Desirable: experience with new build façades and curtain walling systems.
