Role Description

We are looking for a talented Building Surveyor to join our established London-based team. In this role, you'll be working with a range of education sector clients-universities, schools, trusts, and government bodies-delivering capital projects and undertaking condition surveys throughout the UK. We're looking for someone with good technical experience and a background in building surveying.

You will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio, often working on several projects simultaneously. By collaborating within larger teams, you will help ensure our clients consistently receive exceptional service. Building strong relationships and communicating effectively with clients will be an integral part of your day-to-day work. Excellent organisational skills are essential, enabling you to consistently meet project deadlines and ensure your work aligns with cost forecasts, supporting the successful and profitable delivery of each project.

Accountabilities
  • The main objective of this position is the effective management and execution of capital works across educational properties.
  • You'll be entrusted with considerable responsibility, offering opportunities to develop both leadership and technical abilities, and to advance your career within our forward-thinking, specialist team.
  • Key tasks include overseeing professional consultancy assignments such as condition surveys, and occasionally dilapidations.
  • You'll facilitate clear communication at every project stage, ensuring all relevant information is available to drive successful outcomes.
  • Partnering with Project Managers and Team Leaders, you'll support efficient financial management and deliver services that are both high-quality and cost-effective.
  • You'll provide regular, detailed progress updates to the Sector Director, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior surveyors will also be an important part of your role, contributing to team development.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Building Surveying or relevant field
  • Ideally MRICS accredited, or actively pursuing chartership
  • Strong technical proficiency and multidisciplinary experience
  • Strategic thinker with a proven history of delivering projects successfully
  • Skilled in risk management and maintaining high standards of quality
  • Adaptable and able to work within tight deadlines
  • Good awareness of issues and challenges faced by education sector clients
  • Knowledgeable in technical, regulatory, and commercial aspects of building surveying
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective client relationships
