This Casualty Director Opportunity 2026 is designed for a Welsh or Wales-based director ready to take the next step, gaining hands on experience in high-end TV drama and working towards a broadcast credit on Casualty.
Following the success of our previous director schemes, which has seen four directors gain eight credits across BBC Studios Drama Productions shows, we are now offering a unique opportunity to develop your skills on Casualty. This BAFTA and multi award-winning BBC Studios medical drama remains one of the UK's most loved and longest running scripted series. Filmed at Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff, it continues to deliver powerful, character driven stories from the frontline of the NHS.
This is a paid opportunity and is designed to offer meaningful, hands on experience at every stage of production as the successful candidate works towards a credit on the show.
THE SCHEMEThe successful candidate will shadow the preparation and filming of a two episode block of Casualty, gaining insight into the creative and technical processes involved in delivering a primetime television drama. You'll observe how a director works closely with cast and crew, from pre production planning through to filming on set.
Following the shadowing period, the successful candidate will go on to direct the second episode of the block, with ongoing support and guidance from an experienced mentor director.
