Network Engineer
Permanent - up to £85k + bonus and benefits
Security Clearance: It is an essential requirement for candidates to obtain UK Security Clearance (DV Level) prior to appointment.
Location: Hampshire - 5 days on site
We are seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to work in a high-security environment supporting production LAN and global WAN infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting existing networks, delivering new infrastructure, and testing emerging technologies in lab environments.
The ideal engineer will be confident in CLI-based configuration, network security, and automation tooling, with experience operating in complex, secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support LAN and WAN architectures
- Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
- Implement and manage VPNs and network security solutions, including Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs)
- Design, build, and maintain data centre networks, including leaf/spine architectures
- Work with High Assurance IP Encryption (HAIPE) devices
- Automate network provisioning and orchestration using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs)
- Support and work with whitebox/open networking platforms, including Linux-based network operating systems
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in LAN/WAN network architecture and operations
- Strong understanding of OSPF and BGP routing protocols
- Hands-on experience with VPNs and Firewall technologies
- Knowledge of data centre network design principles
- Experience with network automation and orchestration tools
- CCNP or equivalent industry certification
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN), such as VMware NSX
- Exposure to whitebox switching and open networking platforms
- Familiarity with high-assurance encryption devices and secure communications environments
